Single Charm Pack Baby Quilt
One of my sweet friends had a baby last week so I decided to sew her up something cute. I used a charm pack of Bella by Lotta Jansdotter that I picked up at sample spree last year and paired it with a light gray Kona.
I decided to take it a step above patchwork squares and try out a Half Square Triangle quilt. I'm so glad I did. I love how this turned out. Being pretty small (34" x 34") it was a really quick sew.
I used 1 charm pack (42 - 5" squares) and about 3/4 yard of Light gray fabric to make the quilt top. I made the half square triangles by drawing a line diagonally across the wrong side of the charm square and pairing it with a 5 inch square of gray. Stitch a 1/4 inch away from each side of the line and then cut along the line and you have 2 Half Square Triangles (HSTs)! There are so many ways to lay out a HST quilt. Check out this blog post to see some other ideas. I chose to keep it simple and line them all up going the same direction.
I used some of the leftover HSTs to piece together in the back.
I just love how crinkly this one looks after it's washed. I must make more quilts! Sewing this one got me thinking that I need to make a couple of baby things for my own baby that is due to arrive in just few short months. Yikes! I need to get my hands on some good boy fabric, any suggestions?
