Big Kid Fanny Pack - DIY Pajama Pants with Drawstring elastic

I got some weekend sewing in and checked off 2 projects on my list that I've been wanting to make. Some big kid fanny packs and a pair of pajama pants for my boy who is growing like a weed.
My son had double birthday party to go to this past weekend and I always love the idea of giving a handmade gift even though it really rarely happens.  I've been rolling around the idea of sewing a fanny pack for a while and I thought this would be a great way to try out designing one.  I intended it to be a bag a little boy could grab and throw in some toys and snacks for an adventure (or trip to the doctors office). It turned out to be more of a full sized pack which I though might be bad as I was aiming for something a little smaller. BUT in the end I think it is perfect and actually more useful this size.

We stuffed a couple of super heroes into it and some candy and called it good. Just plain on the inside, no pockets.

Now Tom wants one, so when I make his I'll write up a pattern. Let me know if you are interested in it and I'll bump it to the top of the list.
Next up I sewed Tom a pair of pajama pants. He has been growing out of all his clothes so it was time!

He picked out some fabric while we were at Joann the week before. It was a good opportunity for me to experiment with some Drawstring Elastic I ordered from Mood Fabrics

This is seriously high quality elastic and very easy to use. I feel like I should do a little tutorial on this as well. Let me know if you are interested! Here's a view from the inside.

What did YOU make this weekend?
