I have this idea in my head that I can sew anything.  It gets me in trouble sometimes.  It's hereditary.  I was talking to my mom and sister this week.  They told me they were attempting to sew a padded camera bag.  I asked in surprise if they'd ever made something like that.  My mom replied "oh you know us, we think we can sew anything."   And so when my friend asked me if I could sew a gun holster for her I told her I'd give  it a try.   I do love a good challenge.  I admit it feels a little funny to be posting a gun holster on my blog but I know at least my mom will be curious to see how I made it so here it is.

I started out by making a pattern out of felt and stitching it up to make sure it was just the right size.  Then I reproduced it out of heavy duck cloth.  Each piece has a two layers of duck cloth with a heavy weight stabilizer in the middle.

All the edges are trimmed with a strip of bias cut duck cloth folded in half.  I left the raw edges exposed to make it easier to sew on the binding. They will fray a little as it wears.   On the back I sewed a strip for a belt to slide through.
Anyway, it was a fun adventure.  There is just something so satisfying in sewing up something useful!
