Perfect Purse Handle Tote pdf pattern

Hello Sewing Friends! I am so excited to bring you my Perfect Purse Handle Tote PDF Pattern. This pattern was originally offered in my Perfect Fabric Purse Handle class that I taught for Bag envy at Creative Spark. Now I'm making it available to everyone else in my Etsy shop!

The Perfect Purse Handle Tote is perfect for everyday use. It has a boxed bottom that makes it stand up all on its own. It has an easy to insert magnetic snap and a set of pockets on each wall. I love that the handles are long enough to throw over your shoulder with one hand too!

This is the companion pattern that includes printable instructions on how to make these soft fabric handles which are also found online in my free Perfect Fabric Purse Handles Tutorial

About the Perfect Purse Handle Sewing Pattern

This sewing pattern is perfect for confident beginner sewists ready to practice their skills. For interfacing we use fabric covered foam batting, such as Soft and Stable, which is easy to sew but makes for a great sturdy and padded bag. You can add extra stitches to give it that quilted look but its not necessary.

You'll also learn to make your own fabric handles, add pockets to both walls of the interior, quilt a panel using Soft and Stable, and install a simple magnetic snap closure.

Choosing Fabric and Pattern Options

As you can see I chose to sew up this pattern with a colorful accent fabric on the bottom and and solid fabric on the top of the bag which is opposite from the typical design of a traditional tote. I liked the idea of highlighting a big print on both the handles and the bottom of the bag, but you can switch the design to go more of a traditional route.

Tote bag View A and View B

There are 2 options or 'views' to sew using this pattern. These Views refer to the main body of the bag. View A makes a tote bag that is tall bottom panel perfect for highlighting more of your favorite large scale print. View B makes a tote bag that has a shorter bottom panel. It is important to note which View you want to make as they will correspond to different template pieces to print in the pattern.

You will also have the option to choose whether to make a square ended handle or a round ended handle. Instructions for both are included and it is up to to choose. A template is included to help make sewing on the handles super easy.
