The Superhero party turned out to be a hit. I obviously didn't get to post everything I made last week. Life just gets too busy to blog for me sometimes. I'm working on putting together a little summary of all the fun things we did at our party in case you want to throw one yourself. But first here are a few more things I made last week to get ready.
DIY Superhero Pillows
I saw these "Pow!" and "Bam!" superhero pillows on BoyohBoyohBoy Crafts and just had to make them.
To make these I found the Bam and Pow shapes online and printed them out on a couple sheets of paper pasted together to make the full logo. I cut out the shape in reverse on Fusible Applique paper and then fused it to the back of some polar fleece I had on hand. For a more detailed tutorial check out my post on How to Make a Fusible Applique.
I used polar fleece for the appliques because I had it on hand, but I think it was good choice because it will wear better than felt would I think. These superhero pillows have already seen a lot of action and they are still looking good. We used them for punching and kicking training at the "Training Academy". Now that the party is over they are the perfect pillows to sit on my little boy's bed.
Here's a blurry close up of the difference between using a zigzag stitch (right) and a straight stitch (left) to sew on the appliques. I think both look great!
Superhero pillows for the win!
That's all for now.
