Visiting Bee’s Quilt Shop and Studio – St. Augustine FL

Bee’s Quilt Shop and Studio – St. Augustine FL

Hello Sewing Friends! I had a fun weekend in St. Augustine and we decided to stop at a cute quilt shop on our way out. Bee’s Quilt Shopand Studio did not disappoint! Come with me for a peek inside!

Bee’s Quilt Shop and Studio

This shop was small but mighty. They have a great selection of fabric and neat organization that makes it easy to see everything in such a small space. They offer long arm service, classes, a big variety of threads to choose from, and a huge selection of TulaPink and Kaffe Fassatt fabrics as well. I saw on their IG account that they even sell Heat Transfer Vinyl for all you Cricut machine (affiliate link) wizards out there.

Bernina Sewing Machine Dealer

Bee’s is a Bernina dealer and they have a variety of sewing machines to try out, including The Tula Pink edition.   I remembered that I have been wanting to order a new zipper foot for my machine. All those zipper pouches I have been making lately have really reminded me how unstable the foot I have is.

I bought a New Bernina Zipper Foot!

Bernina Zipper Foot #4

My machine (a Bernina B380) came with a universal post that has 4-5 feet that snap onto the bottom of it to make it easy to switch feet. Unfortunately the design of this snap on connection makes it so that the feet wobble quite a bit from side to side. Here is a shot of how it works.

It is especially a problem on the narrow zipper foot. It also is extra wide where it snaps on. I find that extra width gets in the way if you are ever trying to slide the zipper slide around the needle. The foot really struggles to make contact with the feed dogs and feed fabric through the machine. While I was at Bee’s, I bought a zipper foot that is permanently attached to the post.

It was a little pricey at over $40 but this sewing hobby has never been cheap, am I right? I’m thankful to say that it really does work better. If you have a similar problem I can say that an all in one foot on a permanent shank will indeed be worth purchasing.

Hope you enjoyed that little Bee's Quilt Shop highlight! Read more about my own local quilt shop in this post Fabric Field Trip: Boutique 4 Quilters. Have you visited your Local Quilt Shop lately?? Tell me what your favorite part about it is in the comments below!

Happy Sewing!
