Hi Sewing Friends! I have new pattern release for you today... introducing the Splash Proof Phone Wallet! I've used a pouch like this to protect my phone on our trips to the beach for many years. It keeps my phone sand free and I can still check the time and my notifications through the clear window. Now you can make your own too with my new pattern!

About the Splash Proof Phone Wallet

Protect your cell phone from sand and splashes with this little Splash Proof Phone Wallet. It has a nifty clear window that will allow you to access your screen and check notifications without taking it out. Two size options are included.

Make it extra water resistant by using laminated cotton or water proof canvas. It also doubles as a wallet with 3-4 pockets for credit cards and a little pocket for your key or lip balm on the inside.  Snap it to a lanyard or wrist strap and you are ready to go to the pool! Or add a 2nd d-ring and adjustable strap to turn it into a crossbody for travel.

Splash Proof Phone Wallet Pattern Details

This PDF Pattern includes 16 pages of step-by-step instructions with photos to help you through each step. I've included 7 pages of cutting templates for 2 sizes for you to print at home. All dimensions are also included so you can cut the project with a rotary cutter and mat if you don't want to print the cutting templates. You will need to print or draw a window template and corner template to complete the project.

Here's a peek at a page from the pattern...

How Difficult is the Splash Proof Phone Wallet to Sew?

This pattern is written for a Confident Beginner but your choice of fabric may push it more into the Intermediate range. Make the wallet with quilting cotton on the exterior for the easiest option. This won't make it the wallet water resistant but it will give you a decent level of protection from splashes and sand.

Take it up a notch in difficulty by choosing a water resistant canvas, or laminated fabric for the exterior. These options produce bulkier seams which some machines have a harder time sewing through without additional tools and tricks and practice. I've included tips in the pattern and I promise the project will be much easier the 2nd time you sew it.

Finished Dimensions:

SMALL size - 4 1/2” x  7 1/2” x 1/2’’ - Fits most phones measuring 3 1/2” x 6 1/2” x 1/2” or smaller.

LARGE size - 5 1/4”  x 8 1/4” x 1/2” - Fits average phones with bulky cases or most oversized phones.

  • 1/4 yd Laminated Cotton or water resistant canvas for the exterior (optional)
  • 1/4 yd quilting cotton for the pockets (and exterior pieces if not using the option above)
