 Hello Sewing friends, I finished a quilt this week!!This quilt was one of those unfinished quilt tops that has been waiting in the closet forever. I love how it turned out!! I love the movement produced by the repeated graduated colors so I named it the Onward and Upward Quilt.

 Showing off another little quilt I made years ago that never posted about. (Hence the older photos) This quilt was an experiment, as usual. That's one of the things I love about sewing. Experimenting! Sometimes things turn out well sometimes not. I love how this one turned out but I was very skeptical at first. I challenged myself to choose 2 colors and use mostly old fabrics that I didn't like anymore or thought I'd never use.  I chose pinks for the lights and browns for the darks.

Hi there!  I've been sewing a lot with patterns lately... lots of pattern testing going on over here.  And can I just say that cutting out fabric with a paper pattern can be frustrating!   It's almost impossible to hold the paper down the whole time while you cut and it's tricky to pin the paper to the fabric. Inevitably the patter paper shifts  as the scissors slide under and then I've cut it wrong. Gah! Anyway today I'm going to show you how to cut out a sewing pattern using the 4 helpful tips I use to help make cutting out patterns way less frustrating.
